We reached the end of our leasing contract with Xerox in Apr 2016 for our ColorQube multifunctional printer. After consultation with users and professionals, we decided to team up with Zoology and build a new shared print service, starting with four Ricoh MP C6004 multifunctional printers, and the PaperCut MF server that managing all workflow. The phase one of this project was completed in Mar 2017. Some highlights are:
• Better printers and service from Ricoh, lower cost for both departments.
• One consolidated print service, which supports multiple speedcharts per user for both departments, make it easier for users, especially teaching faculty members who teach jointly funded courses.
• Four printers distributed across the campus with virtual hold/release queue and UBC card access provide better accessibility.
• Various sophisticated reports make usage tracking and cost recovery much easier.
Technically the best print service ever in UBC
